Women's Tennis Eases Past Clark for Fifth Straight Win, 9-0

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College breezed through doubles and won all six singles matches in straight sets on its way to defeating visiting Clark University, 9-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Complex.

Winners of five consecutive matches, Babson improves to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in league play, while Clark dips to 2-11 overall and 0-5 in the NEWMAC with its seventh straight loss.

All three doubles matches resulted in 8-0 victories for the Beavers, and sophomore Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador) picked up her second point of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number one singles. Fellow sophomores Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C.) and Marissa Madison (Columbus, Ohio) won 6-1, 6-0 at second and third singles, respectively, while junior Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) recorded a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at number four.

First-year Mary Kille (Simsbury, Conn.) was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at number five, while sophomore Ally Kaden (Brielle, N.J.) closed the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number six.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. as Babson travels to Wheaton, while Clark hosts Mount Holyoke.

• The Beavers are 24-2 with 20 straight wins against the Cougars going back to 1994.
• Four of Babson's five NEWMAC wins have finished with a 9-0 score line.
• The Green and White is now 7-1 at home this season with its lone loss coming in its only dual match of the fall season back in early September.
