WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College women's track & field program had three players named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team last week. Senior Melanie Plattner (Fort Lee, N.J.) was recognized for the third year in a row, junior Chaela Hood (Plymouth, Mass.) was honored for the second consecutive season, and sophomore Taline Karozichian (Pleasantville, N.Y.) was selected for the first time.
Plattner, who qualified for the NCAA regional championships with a career-best time of 2:21.31 in the 800 meters back on April 21, finished 12th in the event at the NEWMAC Championships after crossing the finish line in 2:23.43 on Saturday afternoon. Hood, who is also a regional qualifier in the 5000 meters, placed fifth with a time of 40:31.11 in the 10,000-meter run at the conference meet, while Karozichian posted a career-best time in the 200 meters (29.59) and came in 13th in the 400 meters on Saturday.
The Beavers return to action on Friday afternoon at the NCAA New England Championships at MIT.
