Three Men Post NCAA Regional Qualifying Marks, Women Set New Record in 4x100-Meter Relay

MEDFORD, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's track & field teams set one school record and posted three NCAA New England Championships qualifying times at the Tufts University SnowFlake Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men came in seventh out of 19 scoring teams with 30.50 points, while the women's squad placed 14th out of 20 scoring teams with 17 points.

Senior Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) placed first 800-meter run with an NCAA England Championship qualifying time of 1:55.39, while junior Samir Arora (Fremont, Calif.), who also notched an NCAA regional mark, placed third with a career-best time of 1:56.80. Sophomore Ethan Kohanik (Delran, N.J.) also punched his ticket to the NCAA regional meet running 58.32 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Junior Sean Haney (Duxbury, Mass.) placed seventh in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.30, while junior Nicholas Virkler (Lincoln, Mass.) and first-year Colin Cianciolo (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 800 meters. The duo also joined Dynan and Arora to help the Beavers come in third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:25.60.

In the field events senior Andrew Myers (Bethlehem, Pa.) leaped to a personal-best 40-feet, 5.43-inches in the triple jump, first year Sean Kennedy (Weymouth, Mass.), who made his collegiate debut last week, furthered his distance throwing the javelin 152-feet, 2-inches, and junior Sean Rezendes (Weymouth, Mass.) jumped 5-feet, 10.75-inches to place seventh in the high jump.

On the women's side the quartet of senior Angelina Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.), sophomore Ana Lamoso (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and first-years Katherine Jacobs (East Granby, Conn.) and Sydney McLaughlin (Sherborn, Mass.) bettered last week's school-record time 4x100-meter relay by crossing the finish line in 50.72 to finish fifth. Jacobs came in second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.05, Raffone was first in the 100-meter prelims with a time of 12.42, and Lamoso turned in a career-bests in both the 200-meter dash (28.94) and 400-meter dash (1:02.84).

Junior Stephanie Rodriguez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) recorded a time of 5:01.44 to grab 12th position in the 1500-meter run, sophomore Emma Cavanaugh (Southbury, Conn.) ran 10:39.44 in her 3,000-meter run debut, which was good for seventh place, and first-year Vivian Lehman (Weston, Mass.) added a seventh-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles. Sophomore Camille Lewis (Cheshire, Conn.) also recorded a personal best in the 1500 meters where shee crosed the finish line in 5:08.76.

Babson will compete at the Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational next Friday and travel to the Coast Guard Invitational next Saturday.
