Volleyball Drops Pair Of 3-2 Decisions To WCSU, Vassar

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Babson College volleyball team suffered a pair of difficult losses at the Western Connecticut State Unviersity Classic on Saturday, as the Beavers saw both of their opponents rally from 2-0 deficits. Babson fell to host WCSU and Vassar - both by scores of 3-2.
Sophomore Nina Milovanovic led the Beavers with two more standout efforts, totaling 40 kills and 32 digs in Saturday's contests to earn All-Tournament accolades. She recorded 19 kills and 17 digs in the loss to WCSU and then added 22 kills, four aces, and 15 digs against Vassar.
In the WCSU match, Babson took the first two sets, 25-23 and 27-25, but the hosts rallied to take the final three sets and the match, 25-23, 25-22, and 15-12. In addition to Milovanovic's 18 kills, the Beavers received 21 kills with only two errors from Senior captain Caitlin O'Neill and 19 kills and 12 digs from sophomore Meg Flaherty. First-year Kathleen Lynch added 56 assists and 21 digs, first-year Cathy Tinker collected four kills and three blocks, and senior captain Shanna Glassner tacked on a team-best 27 digs.
The Beavers once again jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Vassar, winning the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-18. However, Babson again fell victim to a thrilling comeback, as Vassar swept the final three sets, 25-22, 25-16, and 15-13. Milovanovic led the Beavers with 22 kills, while Flaherty chipped in with 14 kills and 18 digs. O'Neill had 12 more kills, Lynch dished out 47 assists to go with 11 digs, and Glassner led the team again with 26 digs.
