Volleyball Captain O'Neill Selected To Play In NEWVA Senior Classic

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Babson College women's volleyball senior captain Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) has been selected to play in the 2009 New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic at UMass-Boston. The match will be played this Sunday, November 15, at 1 p.m.
One of only 33 players selected from throughout the region, O'Neill recently finished an outstanding career for the Babson women's volleyball program. The 5-foot-10 middle blocker led the Beavers in hitting percentage in each of the last four years, including a career-high .303 mark this fall. O'Neill recorded 245 kills with just 78 errors on 552 attack attempts while also amassing 64 total blocks and a team-high 35 service aces. A NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team selection in 2008, O'Neill is one of just eight women in program history to earn All-League honors.
"This is a great honor for Caitlin," said head coach Tonya Strange. "She has worked extremely hard over the course of her career and has undoubtedly played a major role in changing the culture of Babson Volleyball. Being selected to participate in this highly prestigious event is a well-deserved achievment for one of our finest players."
