Babson and Simmons will meet for the 23rd time on Wednesday in a series that dates back to 1980. The Beavers are 16-6 all-time against the Sharks and have won six consecutive matches between the teams since 1999.


Mary Donahue '16 hit .500 and recorded 10 kills as Babson defeated Simmons in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14, on September 9, 2014, in Boston. Krissy Robertson '16 and Angela Price '16 combined for 33 assists, while Kseniya Pulido '15 led all players with 15 digs for the Beavers.

The Sharks defeated Babson, 3-1 (15-11, 9-15, 15-13, 15-13), to halt an eight-match losing streak in the series on September 8, 1998, in Babson Park.

Simmons (9-10) had its five-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss at Rivier on Saturday. First-year Morgan Weeg had 12 kills and senior Alex Itasaka recorded 11 digs for the Sharks, who hit just .043 as a team in the loss. Weeg (4.06 k/s, 3.44 d/s) ranks 26th nationally in kills per set, senior Abby Hart (2.56 k/s) is hitting at a .268 clip and classmate Cailin Frederickson is averaging 2.13 kills. First-year Kenna McCarthy is dishing out 9.28 assists, while Itasaka is contributing 5.34 digs per set, good for 55th in Division III.

Babson (15-11) snapped a two-match skid with a 3-0 win at Wheaton on Tuesday night. Senior Jenny Karnes finished with eight kills and sophomore Gizem Yilmaz recorded a career-high nine service aces for the Beavers, who hit .372 over the final two sets. Senior Lorraine Mackiewicz is averaging 2.49 kills and 1.88 digs, Karnes is contributing 2.46 kills, and Yilmaz (2.10 k/s) is hitting .302 and leads the Green and White with 48 service aces. First-year Elizabeth Cameron is dishing out 8.16 assists to go along with 2.33 digs, while sophomore Abby Beecher is recording a team-high 4.51 digs per set.

Mackiewicz has hit .484 with 15 kills and no errors in two previous matches against Simmons, while Karnes recorded seven kills and four blocks in the Beavers' 2014 victory over the Sharks.

Thursday's contest against Simmons will be the final regular season home match for Mackiewicz, Karnes and fellow seniors Alana Atchison and Kristen Haislip. The women's volleyball class of 2017 has compiled an 88-41 record while helping the program capture back-to-back NEWMAC titles and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament over the last two seasons.

The Green and White is 6-0 this season and has won 11 straight matches at home going back to last season.

The Beavers have been victorious in 54 consecutive matches when winning the first two sets going back to 2013.
