WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomore Allie Puccio (New Hartford, N.Y.) was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Puccio earned the first weekly honor of his career after totaling 42 kills and eight blocks while averaging 3.23 kills and 3.54 points per set over four matches for the Beavers. She had 10 kills in a 3-0 win over Springfield on Tuesday that catapulted the Beavers into a share of first place in the conference standings, and followed it up with eight kills, four digs and two blocks in a 3-0 victory over Middlebury on Friday night.
Puccio wrapped up the weekend with 15 kills and three blocks in a four-set loss to Tufts and nine kills and two blocks in a 3-0 setback against Williams.
One of the league's top hitters, Puccio leads the Green and White with 248 kills and ranks sixth in the NEWMAC in kills per set (3.18) and seventh in points per set (3.47). Although she has played just 57 career matches, she is already up to 11th place on the program's all-time list with 613 kills.
Babson (18-7, 7-1 NEWMAC), which was fourth in last week's first NCAA regional rankings, travels to Wellesley on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Beavers will wrap up the regular season against Mount Holyoke and Worcester State on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
