BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women's volleyball team earned the first national ranking in program history when the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its final Division III poll on Tuesday.
The Beavers, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the first time in school history last week, collected 510 points to finish 20th in the poll. The Green and White was one of three teams from New England to appear in the final poll along with 11th-ranked Johnson & Wales and 14th-ranked Wesleyan.
Under the direction of eighth-year head coach Eric Neely, Babson put together another historic season that included its third New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title since 2014 and a fourth NCAA Tournament in the last five seasons. The Beavers defeated Mount Saint Vincent, Wellesley and then-23rd-ranked Bowdoin to capture its first NCAA Tournament regional championship before falling to Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the national quarterfinals.
One of six Division III programs to advance at least as far as the regional finals in each of the last two years, the Beavers recorded their third most wins in program history and wrapped up the season at 26-9 overall.
