BABSON PARK, Mass.—Fresh off Saturday's victory in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament final, the 18th-ranked Babson College women's volleyball team learned that it will travel to Tufts University for the opening weekend of the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament when the 64-team field was announced on Monday afternoon.
Under the direction of ninth-year head coach Eric Neely, the Beavers (32-1) are making their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth overall after earning the league's automatic bid. Babson advanced to the national quarterfinals of last year's Division III championship after reaching its first regional final back in 2017. Winners of 21 straight matches, the Green and White will face UMass Boston (12-18), which captured its first Little East Tournament crown since 2017, in a first round match on Friday at 3 p.m. in Medford.
The winner of Friday's match will face either 21st-ranked Johnson & Wales University (27-4) or Maine Maritime Academy (24-3) in Saturday's second round at 2:30 p.m. In the other half of the bracket, 14th-ranked Tufts (27-1) takes on Eastern Nazarene College (17-6), while Bowdoin College (18-7) meets Endicott College (23-7) in the opening round. Sunday's Medford Regional final is set for a 1 p.m.
Tickets for single sessions are $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for students between the ages of 12-17. All-session passes also are available for $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $7 for students ages 12-17.
