WATERFORD, Conn.—The Babson College men's and women's cross country teams concluded the 2015 season at the NCAA Division III New England Championships on Saturday at Harkness Memorial Park. The Beaver men came in 24th out of 55 scoring teams, while the women's squad finished 36th in a 56-team field.
First-year Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Green and White in the men's race, posting a time of 26:25 to come in 95th overall. Sophomore Jonathan Miller (Westford, Mass.) finished the 8k course in a time of 27:23, while classmate Scott Atwood (West Newbury, Mass.) matched his personal best with a time of 27:39.
First-year Walker Odell (Santa Barbara, Calif.) came in just four seconds behind Atwood with a time of 27:43, and classmate Jake Fishkin (Hagerstown, Md.) trimmed five seconds off his previous best time to cross the finish line in 28:10. First-year Austin Henry (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) finished the course in 28:15, while classmate Ryan Vandervalk (Glen Rock, N.J.) came in just six seconds behind him.
The Babson women enjoyed a stong day that saw six of their seven harriers set new personal bests. First-year Chaela Hood (Plymouth, Mass.) came in 99th overall with a time of 23:40, sophomore Melanie Plattner (Fort Lee, N.J.) cut over 90 seconds off her best 6k time and crossed the finish line in 25:08, while junior Heather Murphy (Perrineville, N.J.) came in third on the team with a time of 25:54.
First-year My-Linh DeBonis (Framingham, Mass.) posted a time of 25:57 and senior Katie Donovan (Darien, Conn.) recorded a time of 26:09, both of which were new career bests. First-year Emily MacDonald (East Sandwich, Mass.) recorded a time of 27:34 and junior Amy Warner (Rockland, Mass.) set a new PR with a time of 30:26.
