WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomore Matt Pattyson (Doylestown, Pa.) was honored for his success in the classroom on Tuesday when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference team.
Pattyson, who earned the first academic all-league honor of his career, has appeared in all 25 games and is averaging 3.9 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 40.5 percent from the floor and 37 percent from three-point range. He has made three starts on the year and scored a career-high 10 points in a loss to Endicott back on November 18.
In order to be eligible for NEWMAC Academic All-Conference consideration, honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Fourth-seeded Babson (15-10, 8-6 NEWMAC) will host fifth-seeded WPI (17-8, 8-6 NEWMAC) in a conference tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside Staake Gymnasium.
