AMHERST, Mass.—Babson College senior Niall Dillon (Duxbury, Mass.) was recognized for his success on the field and in the classroom when he was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England team on Tuesday afternoon.
Dillon is one of 128 senior men's lacrosse players from Division's I, II and III to receive NEILA Academic All-New England honors. To be eligible for recognition, individuals must be a senior, carry a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0, and be a significant contributor on the field.
A four-year standout for the Beavers, Dillon was named to the All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) first team earlier this month after registering career highs of 25 goals and 19 assists for 44 points despite being limited to just 14 games after suffering a season-ending injury on April 20. He had least one point in every outing and produced seven multi-goal games while shooting a career-best 32.9 percent.
The 2016 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, Dillon scored 87 goals and dished out 50 assists for 137 points in 63 career games. He leaves Babson tied for 10th all-time in assists and is ranked 12th on the program's career scoring list in goals and points.
The Beavers finished the year at 8-9 overall after suffering a 10-9 NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal loss at Clark on April 30.
