Swimming & Diving Falls to Wellesley, Coast Guard

WELLESLEY, Mass.--The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams returned to competition against Wellesley College and the Coast Guard Academy on Friday afternoon inside Chandler Pool. The Beavers lost to both the host Blue (220-71) and Bears (196-95) in the women's half of the meet, while the Babson men suffered a 181-105 setback to Coast Guard.

Senior Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) and first-year Chalres Wang (San Marino, Calif.) both won two events apiece for the Beavers. Damiecki touched the wall first in both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, while Wang followed up a victory in the 100 backstroke by later claiming the top spot in the 200 backstroke.

Alvin Oentoro (Houston, Texas) came in second in the 1000-yard freestyle and third in the 500 free, while sophomore Aaron Huynh (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was the runner-up in the 200 free. First-year John Arsenault (Danvers, Mass.) came in third in his collegiate debut on the 1-meter diving board.

Additionally, juniors Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.) and Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) placed fourth in the 100 backstroke and 50 free, respectively, while sophomore Aiden Asuncion-Duong (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) came in fourth in the 100 free.

The Babson women were led by first-year Angela Li (Belmont, Mass.), who came in second in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200 breaststroke. Senior Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.) finished as the runner-up in the 50 free and first-year Caitlin Caron (Cheshire, Conn.) added third-place results in both the 1000 free and 200 IM.

Sophomore Elizabeth Demoine (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J.) placed third in the 200 breaststroke, while first-year Molly Cox (Orange, Conn.) finished third in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 back. Sophomore Abigail Voce (Oxford, N.Y.) added a fourth-place showing in the 100 free for the Beavers.

Babson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Wheaton for a dual meet beginning at 12 p.m.
