WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College women's track & field team was picked to finish eighth when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its preseason coaches' poll earlier this week.
MIT, which has won 10 straight conference titles, collected six first-place votes to finish ahead of second-place WPI. Coast Guard Academy, Wheaton College and Springfield College rounded of the top five, while Wellesley College and Smith College came in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Under the direction of 15th-year head coach Russ Brennen, the Beavers return 11 competitors from a team that placed eighth at the 2018 conference meet. The Green and White set four school records and sent eight athletes to the NCAA New England Championships last spring.
Babson, which set two school records at its opening meet in Point Loma, Calif., last Saturday, will travel to the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m.
