WESTWOOD, Mass.—Four Babson College women's track & field competitors were honored when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon.
First-year Katherine Jacobs (East Granby, Conn.) was selected as the league's track athlete of the week and joined senior Angelina Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.), sophomore Ana Lamoso (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and first-year Sydney McLaughlin (Sherborn, Mass.) on the NEWMAC's Relay Team of the Week.
Jacobs set a new school record and qualified for the NCAA New England Championships and the NEICAAA Championships with her time of 14.90 in the 100-meter hurdles at Point Loma's Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet back on March 16. Her time is currently the best in the conference and ranks seventh in Division III.
Raffone, Lamoso, Jacobs and McLaughlin came in first and set a new school record with a time of 51.61 in the 4x100-meter relay at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday. The time bettered the program's previous mark set back in 2013 by 0.36 seconds.
Babson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Tufts to compete in the SnowFlake Classic beginning at 10 a.m.
