WESTWOOD, Mass.—Three members of the Babson College women's track & field squad received New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference honors as announced by the league office late last week.
Senior Chaela Hood (Plymouth, Mass.) was named to the team for the third consecutive season, classmate Angelina Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.) were honored for the second year in a row, and sophomore Grace Regan (Kingston, N.Y.) were recognized for the first time.
The school-record holder in the 100 meters and 200 meters, Raffone finished third in the 100-meter dash at the conference meet last Saturday and has qualified for both the NCAA New England Championships and NEICAAA Championships. A three-time regional qualifier, Hood came in 13th in the 10,000-meter run at the league meet after being limited by injuries this spring, while Regan helped the Beavers' record-setting 4x400-meter relay squad finish sixth in the event.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Coming off its ninth-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships, Babson will send eight individuals to the NCAA New England Championships beginning on Friday at Williams.
